Spectrum Trio is charting into new waters. A deep knowledge of folkloric traditions from Cuba, South America, and Africa, put into a blender with Western Classical training, samples, hip-hop beats, ambient drones, and exotic vocals makes for a distinctive new sound and one that is uniquely their own. Through their original compositions and provocative performances, Spectrum Trio seamlessly integrates all these elements into an aggressive brand of genre-bending percussion-influenced music. Hear the future.

Spectrum Trio presented a very informative and artisically stellar concert and masterclass at the 2011 Juilliard Summer Percussion Seminar. Their way of communicating was perfect for our 16 high-schoolers from around the world. Their recital showed us everything that is ‘right’ about their approach to a 21st-century aesthetic: musical and intellectual exploration; cross-pollination of many incredible styles/genres. All performed and taught with joy and expertise.
— Joe Gramley. Director, Juilliard Summer Percussion Seminar. Founding Member, The Silk Road Ensemble. Professor, University of Michigan
Thanks to a well-informed grasp of influences that span from West Africa to Brazil, Spectrum Trio’s one of the most inventive and resourceful local albums to come out in recent years.
